# v1.9.0 — Alignment guides in the preview, plus sharper thumbnails and smoother editing

_Released: 2026-07-04_

> Dragging an image or video clip in the preview now snaps to the frame center with horizontal/vertical guide lines, just like Google Slides (hold Alt to disable snapping). Also improved thumbnail rendering for vertical/square video, reworked the waveform renderer to better reflect the actual audio, fixed a couple of bugs when dragging images around, and added per-asset deletion in the Media Browser.

## Changes

- **New**: Center-alignment guides while dragging in the preview — image and video clips snap to the frame center with horizontal/vertical guide lines, just like Google Slides. Hold Alt to temporarily disable snapping
- **Improved**: Improved timeline thumbnails — vertical, square, and other non-16:9 video now renders center-cropped without distortion, at a sharper resolution
- **Improved**: Overhauled waveform rendering — switched from peak-only to an RMS-based analysis so the shape actually reflects volume changes and beats, at higher time resolution and with a taller audio track
- **Fixed**: Fixed images layered over a video clip jumping to the wrong position when dragged instead of following the cursor
- **Fixed**: Fixed playback starting on its own right after repositioning or resizing an image
- **New**: You can now delete individual assets from the Media Browser — assets still in use on the timeline are protected from accidental deletion
